Hogar de Niños Semillas de Fe foundation (Seeds of Faith, SDF) is a non-profit organization, with EIN# 46-0616413 , tax exempt under New Jersey charity law 501(3) (c), founded by Ms. Pilar Acosta, a theologian and sociologist. Between 2009-2011, Ms. Acosta, with a group of friends from the Diocese of Trenton in New Jersey and under a program called Building Bridges/Construyendo Puentes, made several trips to the Dominican Republic. After witnessing the increasing poverty among children in the towns of Los Aguacates, Barrio Lindo, Romerillo, San Francisco de Macoris, Nagua and neighboring areas they decided to initiate a nonprofit charity foundation that would address the issues of child abuse and neglect, literacy, education, catechism, nutrition, and medical support for the children in these communities.
While respecting their values, dignity, culture and customs, the foundation developed four programs to help address the aforementioned issues. The goal of these programs is to help increase the creativity, imagination, and level of self-esteem in the children. Our primary aim is to make them feel like individuals whom are deserving of opportunities to grow in a safe environment full of love and kindness for greater future aspirations.
